These household items are accepted at our collection facilities.
We accept materials such as used oil, oil-based paints, fluorescent lights, solvents, gasoline, pesticides, herbicides, and various other cleaners and products used in residential homes. These items should not be put in with your regular trash. Your trash goes to a landfill, where it is buried in the ground. These chemicals can leach into the soil, potentially polluting the groundwater and air.
All HHW materials are collected, sorted, packaged and transported offsite for proper treatment, recycling or disposal.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Days:
Wednesdays: Trumbull Collection Facility (seasonally April-October)
Fridays: Geauga Collection Facility (year-round)
Household Hazardous Waste is collected every Wednesday from Earth Day (third week of April) through October.
We are currently accepting HHW ONLY at the Geauga Collection Facility. When we switch to our summer schedule in May, both the Geauga and Trumbull Collection Facilities will be able to accept HHW.
The lists below are some of the most common items we see at our collection facility. If you have a chemical, electronic or appliance to dispose of that is not on the below lists, please call us to see if we can accept it.
We collect electronics and appliances all year round.
