The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management Plan is a document prepared by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District every five years to comply with Ohio law.
The State of Ohio requires solid waste districts in Ohio to develop long-range plans to increase recycling and reduce reliance on landfills. The Ohio EPA oversees the 52 solid waste management districts who are tasked with ensuring that Ohioans have opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle their waste and that solid waste is managed properly.
Geauga-Trumbull’s Solid Waste Plan does four main things:
This Plan must be projected over 15 years and must be updated, ratified, and re-approved every five (5) years.
The District is currently drafting a new 5-year plan, expected to go into effect in 2026. The District wants the public’s feedback on the programs and services we offer.

Geauga-Trumbull’s Solid Waste Plan Update is out for ratification. Each city, township, and village within Geauga & Trumbull Counties must pass a resolution or ordinance to either approve or disapprove the proposed Plan. Please contact your local government office to share any opinions you have on the Plan and its programs.
